Joshua, HWV 64, is an Oratorio composed by G.F. Haendel in 1747, just after the second (and last) Jacobite rebellion, the context is thus a "Patriotic" Drama. The libretto is by Thomas Morell., the librettist with whom he collaborated the most. It was first performed at the Covent Garden Theatre in London on 9th March 1748 .Note that the part of Joshua is devoted to a Tenor, Othniel ito an Alto (Today, a Mezzo-Soprano), and Achsah to a Soprano. Joshua is one of later Haendel's great works. The Chorus "See the Conq'ring Hero Comes" is one of Haendel's most famous Choruses.
